Preparing for First Communion at St. Bede

The preparation, here at St. Bede, for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is a two-year program beginning in the 1st Grade, with the children receiving the Sacraments in the 2nd Grade. All children must be enrolled in our 1st Grade program to receive the Sacraments in the 2nd Grade.

If you are interested in preparing your baptized child under the age of 12 to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion, please contact Moira Arjani at 818-949-4323. Please contact our Pastor at 818-949-4311 if you wish to prepare anyone else to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion (Eucharist).

Dress Code for First Communion:

Boys

• White long sleeve shirt (ironed) with a dark tie (ties are avaibale for purchase in the PREP Office.)
• Dark pants with a dark belt, dark socks and dark dress shoes
• No suit jackets, sport coats, vests or sweaters

Girls

• White dress, long or short - no pants
• White stockings or white socks with white dress shoes
• White headpiece (veil, wreathe, bow, etc)
• No gloves

Children may not bring rosary beads, prayer booklets, etc. They items may get lost and tend to be distracting. 

Our First Communion celebration is professionally videographed. There are no cameras allowed in the chuch during the sacramental celebration. The priests and deacons will be available after the celebration for pictures.
