Cultural Celebrations: As part of the life of our Parish Community, we celebrate a variety of cultural Feast Days that comrpise who we are.
Simbang Gabi
Simbang Gabi is a Filipino custom at Christmas time. It is the celebration of an evening of nine novena masses. Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo prepares people for the real meaning of Christmas. It is not just celebrated in the Philippines but worldwide. Simbang Gabi at St Bede is slated to be celebrated on December 18, 2011 at the 5:30 Mass. Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Guadalupe, a painting also called the Virgin of Guadalupe is a 16th century Roman Catholic Icon from Mexico representing a Marian apparition. Our Lady of Guadalupe's feast day is celebrated on December 12th and it commemorates the traditional account of her appearances to Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac near Mexico City from the 9th to the 12th of December 1531. This year, December 12 falls on a Monday, so the celebration will be at 6:30am on the feast day. For further information, contact Angie Prime at 818.957.1873
Korean Martyrs: This event has been celebrated in the past at St. Bede. This is scheduled to be celebrated on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the 5:30pm Mass. Please contact the Parish Center for more information.
Parish Birthday Celebration: The Parish Birthday event celebrated in early October of each year and is considered the single largest "fun" raiser at the parish, always bringing out approximatley 1000 parishioners for a themed dinner, carnival games, cake walk, bingo, barhopping, and just plain fun. This year's event was scheduled for the weekend of September 30 with a concert on Friday evening, followed by a lite reception. Saturday, October 1, there was wine and cheese reception after the 5:30 Mass. There was a champagne reception after the 11:00 Mass on Sunday, October 2 to kick off the "Big Bash" which happened on Sunday, October 2 from 4-8pm. "We've Just Begun in '51" was chaired by Moira Arjani and anyone wishing to get involved from soup to nuts for next year is encouraged to contact Moira at 818.949-4323.
Golf Tournament: This is an annual social golf outing open to all parishioners, usually on a weekday in early December or January. Contact Mark Saatzer at 818.547.5497
